The Skin Diary with Catie Boucher

The Skin Diary with Catie Boucher

GET TO KNOW CATIE

Hi, I’m Catie Boucher, a double board-certified Nurse Practitioner in Dermatology (DCNP) and Family Medicine (FNP-C) with over 13 years of experience. I specialize in both medical and aesthetic dermatology, from diagnosing complex skin conditions to perfecting natural, transformative injectables.

I’m most passionate about personalized skincare and working with patients in person and virtually to create effective, results-driven regimens tailored to their unique needs. I’ve carefully curated the SavvyDerm Collection, a selection of the best-of-the-best skincare products that I rigorously test and trust for their efficacy.

Q: FAVORITE @ANFISASKIN PRODUCT?

A: ÂN-BALM, all day long. I’ve used ÂN-BALM almost since its inception seven years ago, and it has never left my lineup since the day I started. I could talk about this product all day. Clinically, it performs exceptionally well on all skin types. When I first started using ÂN-BALM, I was in the throes of cystic hormonal acne, and it not only calmed the inflammation but also helped regulate my sebum and keep my barrier healthy.

Now that I’m in my perimenopause era, it’s saving my skin with hydration and barrier repair. A little goes such a long way, and it feels like green juice for my skin. Zen Mist and ÂN-BALM are the two products I look forward to most in my PM routine, and they’ve become a nightly ritual for me and so many of my patients over the years.

Q: TOP 3 RIDE OR DIE SKINCARE PRODUCTS?

A: My top three ride-or-die products, in no particular order, are Skinbetter AlphaRetHydrinity Restorative HA, and ÂN-BALM by yours truly.

AlphaRet has changed the game for anyone looking to reap the benefits of a nightly retinoid without the harsh side effects. Restorative HA, which I’ve nicknamed liquid ibuprofen, is like giving your skin an IV. It delivers deep hydration and helps calm inflammation at the source. ÂN-BALM is an all-time favorite because it not only performs clinically but also soothes my skin and serves as the perfect finishing touch to my nightly skincare routine.

Q: FAVORITE WELLNESS RITUAL OR DAILY HABIT?

A: I’m almost three years into running my practice, and like many young entrepreneurs, my self-care has taken a hit. I promised myself that in 2025, I would get back on track. For the last few years, the only daily ritual I’ve consistently kept is ÂN-BALM—it’s the one thing I do for myself every night before bed. Another wellness ritual I love is taking a nightly bath a few times a week. I recently discovered Flewd bath soaks, which are single-use magnesium soaks with different blends depending on how I’m feeling. It’s 15 minutes of my day where I either sit in silence or listen to a hypnosis track from my life coach. While I’m currently working on incorporating more facets of wellness into my routine, I love that I’ve been able to maintain these small but meaningful nightly rituals with ÂN-BALM and my bath soaks.

Q: HOW DO YOU INCORPORATE @ANFISASKIN PRODUCTS INTO YOUR ROUTINE?

A: ÂN-BALM has been a nightly staple for me for the last seven years. Before applying ÂN-BALM, I use Zen Mist, a hydrating facial spray that pairs perfectly to deliver the ultimate glazed donut vibes. If my skin feels especially dry, I’ll apply a cream-based moisturizer first and then seal it in with the balm as the final step.

Q: ANY UNCONVENTIONAL BEAUTY SECRETS YOU SWEAR BY?

A: This product isn’t unconventional, but the approach might be. I firmly believe that the single most important thing you can do for your skin’s health is to wear a mineral-based SPF daily. It’s one of the most affordable yet effective products in most skincare regimens, but many people still skip it. Skipping SPF while investing in corrective skincare and treatments is like going to the gym every day to work out, then smoking cigarettes and eating fast food on the way home — it’s working against everything you’re trying to achieve. Moral of the story: don’t skip your SPF!

Q: HOW DO YOU STAY UP-TO-DATE ON NEW PRODUCTS AND BRANDS?

A: I am constantly reading new articles and literature on skincare products and procedures as they become available. The key to staying in the know is committing to being a lifelong student. I invest in myself heavily each year to ensure I have the right tools and knowledge to be the best provider possible for my patients.

Before a product ever receives the SavvyDerm stamp of approval, it goes through a rigorous evaluation process. I not only research products from a clinical standpoint, but I also beta-test them on myself (when applicable) and a select group of beta patients. A product may perform well clinically, but if it feels tacky or has an unpleasant smell in real-time use, it’s unlikely to make the cut.

This process is time-intensive and requires a high level of attention upfront, but it’s always worth it. When I introduce my patients and followers to a new product in the collection, they trust that I’ve done my due diligence — and I will never take that responsibility for granted.

Q: DO YOU HAVE A FAVORITE BEAUTY TREATMENT?

A: I would argue that there isn’t one single life-changing beauty treatment when it comes to aging gracefully. Consumers are constantly searching for the next “quick fix,” but the truth is, it simply doesn’t exist. That being said, I believe a yearly CO₂ resurfacing treatment can be an incredibly effective way to address multiple skincare concerns in a single session each year.

Q: WHAT DO YOU ENJOY MOST ABOUT WORKING IN THE BEAUTY AND WELLNESS SPACE?
A: I feel incredibly blessed to wake up every day and do what I love, and I never take that for granted. If I won the lottery tomorrow, I wouldn’t change a thing. What I enjoy most about my work is, without a doubt, the connections I make with my patients every day.

One of the biggest reasons I decided to take the leap and go out on my own was because I never wanted my patients to feel like just a number in my clinic. I love getting to know each individual, hearing their stories, and tailoring their treatment plans accordingly. I also love that many patients feel like they already know me through social media, as it makes our first interaction feel even more personal and authentic.
